This app is designed to help farmers of urban farms to market their products directly and quickly to small shops, restaurants, cafés or grocery shop buyers. In addition, a voting tool can be used to grow according to demand from customers.

The app is being realised as a prototype in Figma. The design is based on fruit and vegetable stickers and is intended to look fresh and make people curious.

Process

WHAT-HOW-WHY

Using the What-How-Why model, I refined my goal and decided to create an app designed to help market urban farming products to local stores, cafes, and restaurants.

Competition Analysis

I researched existing apps in this field. However, there were no apps yet targeting the urban farming sector with my chosed target group.

Target Group

I defined the target group using the Sinus Milieux framework and limited it to the Expeditive Milieu, the Performer Milieu, and the Neo-Ecological Milieu.

Persona

To suit my target audience, I created two personas: a restaurant owner and an urban farmer, each with their own specific needs.

FUNCTION DESCRIPTION & RATING

I summarized the application’s potential features—such as the shop function, the search feature, and the voting tool—in a feature specification. I evaluated these features based on development effort and utility.

USER STORIES & USER JOURNEY

Based on the personas, I created user stories and user journeys. These include, for example, acceptance criteria.

MOOD BOARDS

To finalize my design, I created mood boards. The first one featured bold colors and a sticker-like look. The second one had organic shapes reminiscent of leaves.

The third one was more functional, with muted colors and a more technical feel. Finally, I created a mood board with hand-drawn illustrations and warm, natural colors.

Wireframes

Using the Google Material Wireframe Kit, I designed wireframes in Figma based on the defined user stories.

CREATING USER FLOWS

I implemented these user flows in my final design, which features a sticker-style look, as a Figma prototype.

Testing

I tested my application with test persons. They were then asked to fill out a usability evaluation form.

Final Design & Styleguide

Finally, in addition to the prototype I designed, I compiled all of Urban Greens’ design guidelines into a style guide.
