The website is about building a DIY bench from scrap wood. The website explains the construction of the bench in detail with lots of animations for beginners and advanced users. You can also find out everything else you need to know about DIY with wood (materials, tools) and the project is based on the main theme of DIY.
The design is based on IKEA instructions to demonstrate simplicity and comprehensibility. A mobile and desktop version were also realised in Figma.
On the topic of DIY, I decided to create a piece of furniture from scrap wood. I then realised the construction of this piece of furniture straight away.
I then created suspense arcs for various stories that I wanted to tell on my website.
In storyboards, I sketched out first plans for the structure of the website for different stories. I took a chronological approach to my story to address the issue of fast furniture and the lack of long-lasting furniture.
I created 4 mood boards for the theme. When designing the illustrations, it was important to me that they were simple and easy to understand, so I thought about doing them in the style of Ikea instructions.
I used Figma to visualise the design variants and tried them out with the wireframes I had created.
In the end a style guide with all the important elements was created. The prototype was realised for the laptop and for the smartphone in Figma.
